Default 2000 C70 2.0T - Turbo gone, what next?

Hello all,

Sadly today, the turbocharger on my 2000 'X' C70 2.0T has failed. This happened after the car was started to be driven the fifty or so yards to the Mot test bay. I would (hopefully) like to have the car fixed and returned to the road, however as I am not with the car, I am attempting to look at the price of used/remanufactured units. I believe that the 2.0T engine has the light pressure turbo, part no. 8658096, which is shared with the S60 2.0T. Would I be correct in this assumption for my car, and is it a particularly difficult job to do? It'll be my mechanic doing the work, as opposed to myself, but I would like some idea. And/or if someone has a compatible turbo for sale, please let me know.

Thank you in advance.

Yes, 2.0lt and 2.4 have the low pressure turbo. T5 has the high pressure. No idea how difficult a job it is as never had the need to do.

Hi Joseph,
Volvo/Saab Breakers in Nottingham may be able to supply the part or there's a firm in Stoke called Cats & Carbs who may be able to refurbish yours. Both can be looked up on Google, I hope this helps,
Regards
Fred

What exactly has failed with the turbocharger? In the very rare case when it fails its a lubrication problem ... In which case the new turbo wont last 5 minutes either :-(
