XC60 2012 D5: How to replace RHS Intercooler Hose

With help of this forum (), having identified a hole worn into the the Right Hand Side pipe coming from the Intercooler (pipe No2 in the attached), I am now trying to find how to gain access to the hose clamp at the intercooler end so I can change the pipe.

Can I do this by removing the "skirt" under the bumper from the front lower edge of the bumper to each wheel arch and under the radiator, or do I need to remove the whole bumper )? The photo of the part that I think would allow access (the "lower skirt") is attached - would this allow access?

From what I can see, if I had clear access, the replacement job should be relatively easy and quick (two pipe clamps). However, I suspect it's going to be a whole lot harder.

Any top tips, or even better a link to uTube would be great, but I've spent hours on Google trying to find such advice but I can't seem to find anything.

Any advice gratefully received.

Did you manage to get the hose replaced ok? Was it a bug**r of a jib in the end or not too bad?

Hi Cozza,

It was quite a job: lower skirt of front bumper to be removed (easier to get off than back in); lift radiator and remove support btace; and then needed a flexible drive to somehow get a large jubilee clip loosened. Made v challenging as the jubilee clip is out of sight and not easy to get the nut driver onto the fastening. I raised the front of the car on ramps to give enough space to work.

Anyway, once undone and off, with the jubilee clip on the replacement hose, it can be positioned to make the nut more accessible to do up.

I would advise to get the original volvo pipe replacement as they have changed the design to help prevent it being worn through by rubbing on bodywork and giving more clearance from the adjacent drive belt.

With prior knowledge and the right tools makes it a relatively straight forward job. YouTube has some good films (sorry, don't have the links to hand).
