Default TPS for an 1800E wanted

Hi, can anyone help with a throttle position switch for an 1800E or ES? The one on my E is a bit worn at the first segments. Cheers Keith

I can recommend this guy, he'll do a full refurb of yours with new PCB and cleaned contacts etc.
Did a superb job of mine both inside and out.

Thankyou for the links, much appreciated. My friend sent his TPS over to The Netherlands but did not have a lot of luck with his unit (I think it was the blades on his and not the circuit board). I would still like to get hold of another one and maybe send mine over for repair.

Not unusual for them to look a "bit worn". have you cleaned and properly setup the one you have? are you getting any malfunction. poor running?

Heres a link to a very thorough discussion on TPS. Note the recommendation of using Deoxit to clean TPS. Some use an eraser, which unfortunately is abrasive.

That link also contains a reference to where you can buy a new circuit board. I don't believe a complete new TPS is available anywhere.

And a link to setting up.

If you are having difficulty finding the Volvo TPS, I would suggest searching for a Mercedes D jetronic TPS. The R107 and equivalents from 1971 to 1975 also used this system and some of the sensors and components are interchangeable. The Mercedes was more numerous than the 1800 so more parts should be available.

Very interested in this thread, particularly the information below:

Later on Volvo used the replacement type with P/N 0280120039. Overall a better constructed TPS. Please note that the pinning of the connector on the TPS is rotated ( 039 type compared to the other 2), so your cable with connector should be rotated (180 degrees) when inserted to the TPS unit.

After several hours of trouble shooting I discovered that the TPS on my car is this later variety and the cable plug was 180 degrees out. It can be inserted only one way so had to remove the cables from the connector and just plugged them in the right order. Transformed the running!
So if you obtain one of these you will have to switch the wires in the plug around.
