Default Hood Alignment issues

Are there any tricks to aligning the hood on an 1800? I have rub on the front left and right corners on lifting and a rub in the front when i try to close it.. hood height when closed is level to the apron and the hood was pushed as far as possible aft before tightening the screws... suggestions appreciated before i try and egg out the hinges a bit to get more aft mounting.

I notices also the holes on the cross member are huge - i have it mounted fairly securely with washers and such, but it doesn't seem right..

(my car came to me without the hood attached),
Thanks,
Kerry

I have had issues with the bonnet.
Mine... well ... locks well and does not budge when locked.... the other side lifts and rattles when driving..even though the buffer has been adjusted ..and the roller nechanism shimmed
