Hi all,
My 940 b230ft throttle linkage is looking terrible. Where can I buy new linkage or is it a case a making my own? Cheers |

When you say it's looking terrible, what exactly do you mean? It might just need cleaning.

Have you got any photos? Unusual for them to melt, if it's the one i'm thinking of they're made of some form of engineering plastic, whether it's Delrin, Glass-filled nylon or what, i'm not sure but it's certainly capable of withstanding high temperatures.
I know it seems to attract dirt, dust, oil etc and can end up looking "snotty 'n' grotty" as if it has melted so could just need a clean with brake or carb cleaner and an old toothbrush or similar. If it's purely aesthetics, i'd start with that. There should be a small amount of play in it so the throttle butterfly can rest properly against its preset stop screw and operate the idle switch in the TPS but not enough play that you could drive a double decker bus through it.

If you mean the plastic ball sockets on the vertical shaft there are two separate part numbers. 946703 is the top one, and 946704 is the left hand threaded one on the bottom which uses a left hand thread locknut. Both are still widely available and are not very expensive. That said, they dont really wear out unless messed with. As with anything to do with the Volvo throttle, adjusting them is a black art.

Thanks guys.
I will give it a clean up. If it's not all good i'll replace. Do we have a favorite volvo dealer we all like to use who will post? With my audi TT we all used the same parts guys. |

Agree with Forrest. The plastic ends are available. Last time I messed with mine I noticed that the threaded portion of one of them was starting to split so have bought two replacements but not fitted them yet.
