For Maps, certainly. The download and install can be done over several journeys.

Not sure about the Voice Control updates though.

I did mine the other day as we were doing a long journey. Download into usb, as soon as I plugged it in, it said updating maps, please wait with a spinning circle. It took just over an hour to update the UK map. Car was an xc60.

With regards to Maps update, yes.

I left stick in. Car off and locked between journeys and overnight.

The Volvo website says to do the voice control update in one go without turning off the engine.....

Yes, just like maps - download to USB stick.

There's a Gracenote (helps sprting media files apparently) update you can download too.

I've only done the maps update.

Will try voice update over the weekend, then try Gracenote after

What's the voice commands update for? Are there more commands? Or is car better able to understand what we are saying? Are commands more intuitive afterwards? I understand map updates but voice commands...hm?

Volvo don't really provide much info about any changes, though for the Sensus system itself you can see here:

https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support...a801515970036d

For voice commands there is this, though as you'll see well out of date:

http://personalizeyourvolvo.com/PDF_...mands%20v3.pdf

though there may be some later info on page 38 of this:

Thanks! Yes, I was able to find that pdf, just a general description of all the commands, plus it is 3y old. Never mind, probably they still improved something.

Can anyone refresh my memory as to how to find out which update is loaded? I've found the info in the past but can't remember where.

Many thanks

Frank
