Default Classic Car Storage

Hello All,

I have a P1800 currently covered up sitting on the drive.
As I wont be using it for a while, I am asking if anyone can recommend a car storage facility in the South London, North Kent areas.
I have checked the internet but all seem to be either on the wrong side of London or the home counties, hence the call for local knowledge.

Many Thanks.

Regards,
Kevin.

Have you any elderly neighbours, who may have given up driving, willing to rent out their garage to you?

I live SE of J8 of the M25 and have had my name down for a Council rented garage since last year...... so far none available. Due pressure on Councils to provide more and more housing, some garage blocks (specifically Crawley) are demolishing them and putting up starter-homes. Its sheer economics unfortunately, as the trend is for the modern family to use garages as shed/kitchen extensions - cars are no longer considered as needing to be kept warm and dry.

For a completely unrelated situation I was looking at car storage near to my Father and found a place by putting the search term "classic car storage Croydon" into an internet search engine - goodness knows what they're like but there's a start (!)

There are hundreds of 'secure storage' facilities springing up everywhere. They normally provide 20ft x 8ft shipping containers which are ideal for single car storage.

Condensation can be a problem but many are now insulation lined and/or ventilation installed.

Cost is my area (Cheshire) is generally around £25 per month.

Give google a try -secure container storage or something similar.

25 quid a month would be cheap for 24 hour access to your vehicle - not so cheap if you're not expected to move it that frequently.

Here in Holland I pay about 200 euros a year to store project vehicles at a place where most (normal?) people keep their caravans. The deal is that I'm not there every day or every week or even every month.

If I wanted something where I could treat it like a reserved parking place with free access then I'd expect to have to pay about 80 euros a month where I live in Holland - there are much more expensive place in Holland though...

Oops! senior moment there, I clearly meant to type £25 per week, not month for a 20ft container in a secure, monitored location.

If you don’t mind a drive down I have a secure, lite and powered space available in my unit in oving, Chichester. My brother lives in Brockley and I can make it to his in an hour 30. I was going to advertise it on here as I got rid of my 1800 project but still have a 69 2 door amazon. It’s a large space with good access, cameras, security lighting etc. Limited access as there is only 4 of us on site and I live 2 miles away.
