Great guide - opened mine (07 V50 2.0D) and cleaned it, but it does stick and when in the closed position it's not very well sealed!
Short of calling a dealership, where do I buy myself a /new/ one? I have looked online but everything seems to be used!? Also, what is a 'reasonable' price to pay?

My throttle body cog mechanism has slowly been wearing away. It finally gone and the butterfly flap just flaps around like a spoon in a yogurt pot! Until I can get a new one am I best leaving it to flap open and close as it likes, wedge it closed or wedge it open? Any ideas

Just want to say thanks to Craigblues for the photos which I followed today to do the job, made it really easy and for those who are still wondering I used a size 30 torx bit.

If I close my throttle body flap with a bit of pressure it stays closed and you need to put some force if you want it to open it. Is it normal? The throttle body was cleaned with carb cleaner, still it takes 2~4secs to start the car for the first time. Afterwards it starts from the first engine crank.

Had mine apart today, what a mess.. I ended up pulling the inlet off exposing the cam etc and soaking the lot in degreaser, scratching the grime out and poking a rag through each port and pulling it out the next port..

If I had known how dirty it would be I'd have just ordered a new one..

The port to the engine are fking caked in it, I was half tempted to have a go at them but didn't want it falling in.. I expect it's the egr that we have to thank for this..

Is there a guide to block off the egr. Did it on my astravan a few years ago and the performance improved, flat spots in the rev range went.. Overall it was better for it..

Hi!
What should I expect to happen if I leave this hose unplugged?

Because I cleaned the TB, but since I didn't have proper tools to file the flap (and it did get stuck when pushed), I decided to reassemble it and do it again tomorrow.

However, I forgot to put the hose back on, but the car is running fine. Shouldn't it be the vaccuum hose that moves the flap? In that case, how does the car still run normally? Or what's going on.. maybe I have a misunderstanding about the workings of it all, but perhaps someone can explain.

Thank you in advance!
