Just trying different timing settings, changed the actuator preload and boost as well. With the ignition ECU you could probably get away with just changing the chip, but it's probably best to disconnect the battery which resets the fuel ECU at the same time. The fuel ECU learns and adapts somewhat to any changes made, whereas the ignition ECU is 'dumb' and runs off set timing maps.

As aforementioned above several times, the integrity of the storage and the dilligence of the delivery has a far greater impact than any notional differences between fuels.
Also turnover, especially with the cheaper stuff you're better off buying it from somewhere that sells a lot of it, so the stuff you're putting in your car was delivered fairly recently & not "lost too much of it's octane".

I will throw one in now lol i have been running my 940 for the last 2000 miles on E10 fuel cant see why it's going to be better for the environment as to date its doing 2.5mpg less than it was doing on Tesco momentum and slightly down on power so working all the figures out i am better staying on the E5 momentum or Vpower until they decide to withdraw it from sale and you can bet that will be in the pipeline in a few years time in the name of eco friendly but saying that there is an ethanol additive available https://www.millersoils-shop.co.uk/e...nol-protection

I've just dragged my Spitfire out of a 5 year lay up, going to replace all the fuel hoses and fingers crossed the new fuel won't dissolve the fuel pump....

It wasn't me who revived this poll but my first reaction to the title was 'Whatever I can get hold of'. Usually use Tesco, been using it for many years and haven't killed a car with it yet, but over the past couple of weeks many petrol stations around here seem to be having supply issues, either Russia-Ukraine or Eco-warriors at the depots, so I get it at the next petrol station I come to rather than drive across town to find Tesco haven't got any.

Yes… the local communists have a lot to answer for.

My vehicle seems to run better on Shell than the Supermarket brands. The engine is smoother. I had previously been using Tesco or Morrisons, but then tried Shell as it was approx the same price. Will have to do a comparison with regards to mpg.

One of my previous vehicles was high mileage and it long had a slight misfire when idle. I switched to premium fuel and the misfire disappeared and the engine was like described above, smoother. In this instance, the premium fuel was actually Tesco.

For unleaded fuel I would recommend the 99 RON Tesco Momentum. My tuned Subaru is susceptible to poor quality fuel and over the last 5 years it's had no problems at all. I used to use Shell and BP.

It used to be expensive but in the current world, it's a lot cheaper than the diesel ! Would definitely recommend from experience.

Used to try to use Shell or BP when it was cheaper, have since switched to Costco for diesel as it is supposedly premium and is still cheaper than standard at supermarkets. I definitely had a little more power from VPower and it ran a little quieter I feel. But at £125 per tank for standard Shell, no way could I continue with premium there 😳
