Used Rear Springs and Dampers
I have just removed a pair of "standard" (not Nivomat) springs and dampers from my 240 estate, having bitten the bullet and shelled out for more Nivomat shocks and put the original springs back on.
The springs and dampers pictured are therefore surplus and available if anyone would like them. They were fitted in 2010 and have covered less than 5000 miles since. The springs are in their original boxes pictured (I kept the original springs in them) made by a company called K.M.E. They were supplied by Euro Car Parts. The dampers are Boge and in excellent order and don't rattle in use. Quite what is 'automatic' about them I never managed to figure out. I fitted them in place of the original failed Nivomats because it was by far the cheaper option to replacing like for like, but I found the ride unacceptably hard when the car was empty. When loaded the car stayed level, even with 4 up and a boot full of camping kit, and the ride was much improved. If you are looking for a firmer, more contemporary ride, these would suit very well. Looking on the GSF website new springs and dampers cost £115.20, so I would be happy to sell these for £50. Anyone interested please get in touch, otherwise I shall keep them for future 240 projects.

Hi callumk5 I might well be very interested in these as I know what you mean about the hard ride. But I tow a very large caravan and also carry an awful lot of stuff in the boot so just accept the situation.
I'll see how the money situation is right now and get back to you ASAP. Thanks Brian. And I'm in the oxford area as well. |

Excellent stuff. They would be perfect for towing. I'm in no rush to sell them, so whenever you're ready.

Hi callum I got your pm and will let you know just when I can get over to you.You aren't very far away at all.Maybe I can bring the 240 estate but it's hardly been used this year and the mot is due the weekend?
If not I will bring the 740 estate. Didn't pm you as I always seem to be 100% full and I have only kept important messages. Regards Brian. |
