Have you tried a cat cleaning additive?

Presume your EML isn't on...?

May well be your rear lambda on it's way out or your cat.

There will be a code stored in the car, could your garage not read the codes?

I may be well wide of the mark, but I've had this message (3 times) when the oil in the sump level is too high.

An issue with Volvos fitted with a DPF.

Only if you have failed regenerations.
If the car is used as intended and all regenerations complete, there's no rising oil level issue.
