Driving in France can be very relaxing...unless you get a "gitnes" smoking bearded person (male or female) about 2 inches off your bumper in an old clio.....it happens here too.
If your anywhere near "Puy Du Fou" , and I mean withing a 2 hour drive, it is a must, especially if you have kids over 10 who can withstand a full on day walking around, it is a fantastic place for reenactments. look it up on "ter net" Don't risk drink driving, their limit is like Scotland's....not Englands....far lower and a "couple of glasses could put you in trouble. For fines from Police for speeding, at the side of the road my mate didn't have enough money in cash so they escorted him to a cash point!....it's that or loose the car. enjoy your trip, wherever you go it will be great, for better weather go south of the Loire river |

No, I expected it to either be a few weeks into the new world or postponed out of the way. Whoever came up with the 12th has played a blinder for maximum disruption when cross water traffic is increased.

Maybe THAT was the plan.. That, combined with petition not to leave EU at all.. Hmmm.. What would the outcome possibly be?

Just an update. Trip to France was a pleasure. Driving all the way from Scotland to Plymouth (overnight stay at Bristol) was straightforward. Didn't really hit any road jams or so. Off the boat at Roscoff and the roads in Brittany were like the other experiences I have had of France, smooth! However, change in speed is far too regular and French driving skills are questionable, ie cars coming towards you on wrong side of road (Yes I was on the right side lol). Anyway, very enjoyable two weeks on the Eurocamp and would definitely go again. Overall clocked something like 1600 miles for the full trip including day rips over there. Never got windows bricked either with GB flag number plates!

Don't know what your experience was like but we found the roads to be empty this year. Solid bliss. I love the way they stick on your bumper for mile after mile then try to overtake on a blind bend.

The blind bend overtaking.... never really got that but explains why when coming round corners, sometimes cars coming towards me. The roads weren't too busy in Brittany which was nice.
