my answer was ' fill it to the brim each time' but now my answer changes;

cars used daily/regularly - fill to the brim every time

superbike - fill it to the brim and go the long way round to use it all up

merc diesel (used sparingly for family motorway trips) - i just put in what i need around £30-40 a time to ensure the next time it gets used, its best to get some 'fresh' fuel

^^^ Same as above, the wife’s V60 is our family car that gets filled up weekly, my old S60 T5 is semi retired and doesn’t move very often so is usually left with not much fuel in it. When we got the V60 she wasn’t impressed with a full tank costing £90 so fills it up when it’s between half and three quarters now!
