Depends on miles I guess, but it is more often than I would like in the poor wet horrible weather, but not every other week though

Depends on the season but in winter I'm having to fill the washer bottle every few weeks.
That seemed excessive so whilst my XC60 was in for its service this week I asked them to check the system. They reported all was well so refilling regularly seems normal.

Consumption seems very reasonable during the day and if you only spray for one or two wipes at a time, which is usually more than enough.
However, at night or, I presume on dull days with auto lights or using dipped beams, consumption can increase significantly in the same conditions, because the first wash also actuates the headlamp washers, where fitted, and every fifth wash from then on also actuates headlamp washers. These use vastly more water than the windscreen wipers. _DSC7058.jpg

I do 500 miles a week mainly on the motorway. When it is manky weather I get through maybe a full bottle every 10-14 days. Can depend on the road too. The small section of the A1077 round the edge of Scunthorpe seems to be the dirtiest part of my commute and the lorries going past throw muddy wet water onto the screen. The M180 is by comparison remarkably clean....

Is it ok to fill it up just with normal tap water? I've not fill it up with any "screenwash" at all.

Not the best idea. In warm weather screenwash will help clean the screen. in winter it will help stop it freezing. Some will protect to very low temperatures but can get expensive. Most all season screen washes will be fine in the London area, can be diluted for summer and used neat for winter.

Water just doesn't cut through the grease and grime like screen wash. Your windscreen will be manky and streaky when using only water unless you use something like Rain-X fairly regularly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rain-X

Thanks... I shall look at replenishing it with proper screenwash the next time. I remembered the last time i used it on my previous car it doesn't make much diff.

Concentrate varies from 2:1 water to concentrate ratio in winter when it is below 10C to around 7:1 otherwise. This is what I tend to use, or something very similar. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
