Default V60 mk II rear sensor problem

Just had a non OEM detachable tow bar fitted with dedicated 13 pin electrics. Car is a 2019 model and the whole thing was fairly straightforward.

It may be my imagination but I don’t think the rear parking sensors are operating as they used to and don’t get alerts as early as I did before. I can actually place a hand over the o/S side sensor and nothing alerts in the display. Obviously this car has a rear camera so I am wondering if the sensors are not operating and that all rear alerts are triggered by the camera. The collision warning system works fine. The counter to this is that the hands free, foot operated tailgate opening still operates but I am not sure whether this is managed by the bumper mounted sensors, the camera, or something else.

Any ideas as to how to fault find. The fitter assures me he only undid one connector in the bumper when removing and did it back up when re-assembling.

Thanks
