Pollen Filter on a V70 T5
My wife has noticed a petrol/engine kind of smell when sitting in the passenger seat. I thought this might be the pollen filter and when I looked under the plastic cover there was just a square shaped horn leading into the cabin compartment. I noticed the post below after doing a search and the answer was to buy a pollen filter kit, I want to confirm that I need a holder and filter to cover the horn ?
Is there any reason why it should be removed ? Could the smell could be coming from somewhere else ? Thanks Paul Martin V70 T5 (97 R reg) "tonight i had a look under the plastic cover where i thought the pollen filter lived. all i found was the sort of horn which leads to the tumbler fan, but no pollen filter. do volvo 850's with aircon circa 1994 not have them fitted? Hi Paul,
I doubt very much that having a pollen filter will cure the smell of petrol. Can't think of why the filter should be removed, you are looking under the plastic cover just to the right of the passenger wiper? "Could the smell could be coming from somewhere else ?" Check the fuel lines for leaks, throttle body housing and injectors if the smell is that strong I would have thought that the leak would be obvious. Good luck

If you do need one, try these people -
http://www.puravent.co.uk/ I've just bought from them, having read about them in the Sunday Times. Very happy with the product and price. Alastair |

RE: Pollen Filter on a V70 T5
After quizzing my wife a bit more it seems that she is getting traffic fumes, I noticed it this morning when a motorbike overtook me at speed and left a trail of exhaust fumes.
I have taken a picture of what I have under the plastic cover on the passenger side. (see attachment) Do I just need a filter to place on top of this horn pipe or is there a housing for it as well ? Thanks for the reply's |

looks as though u only need the filter but take the car down to the dealer and buy the filter first and try it, if it don't fit get the housing too.

RE: Pollen Filter on a V70 T5
Had my pollen filter replaced as part of my last service. It was approx £36 from the dealer.
