Steering: - Volvo S80 MY00 backlight on the steering wheel

Hello,
I have Volvo S80 TDI (D5252T) model year 2000 with multifunction steering wheel - cruise, volume etc... but I dont have backlight on buttons.

Is it possible to adapt my steering wheel to buttons with backlight ?

I tried to get steering wheel ring with connectors for buttons with backlight, but it is not compatible under the ring. There is PCB with another incompatible connector.

Does anyone have any advice?

This is something I would also like, but it probably needs someone with some serious technical knowhow to reslove. As well as my cherished V70, I own a Rover 75 Tourer, and a member of a very active user forum. The Rover has the same issue - no illumination of the steering wheel buttons.

One of the members decided to tackle this and eventually offer the mod to other members. Here are the links to his posts.
