As per a previous recomendation I recently had my S60 serviced by VMS Cars near Wantage and I was very pleased with the service. Great comunication from Richard and Mervyn, reasonable rates and they gave the car a good check over.

If anyone needs a good Volvo Independent in Northants, try Avalon Cars on outskirts of Wellingborough (tel: 01933 674419). Nick Fisher and his team are reliable, honest and really know their Volvos (have worked for Volvo dealers in past), their labour rate is fair (possibly not the absolute cheapest but no more than half the price of some main dealers). He has the VIDA software and is able to access the upgrades and TJs etc. Is VAT registered so will stamp your service book and pays to have the Volvo service sheets to give to his customers as well as using genuine Volvo parts. All of this to me shows that he cares about the cars and the service he provides. Have trusted my S60 D5 (now my partner's car) to him for last 5 or 6 services, plus some other work (cambelt when it was due plus the usual S60 issues such as engine mounts and suspension mounts etc). Always spot on with diagnosing faults and always explains any problems and will make sure you are happy before going ahead with any work. Am lucky enough to have a newish XC90 that as soon as it is out of the 3 year warranty and £300 service deal will go to him for servicing.

Recommendation for Body work repair shop in SE London
Can anybody recommend a body work repaiir shop in the South East London area.
I've got a large dent in my rear passenger side door which one of these mobile dent repair guys looked at and said would mean a new door. I would like to get a second opinion and get it repaired rather than replaced if at all more economical to do so. My Volvo is a 2002 V70 Many thanks Last edited by petevid; Mar 10th, 2011 at 17:48. |

Phil at Shipham Motor Group www.shipham.co.uk has done a few jobs on my car - and I can offer only praise. As it is a little bit out in the sticks, he does a courtesy car service.
Once upon a time, I thought my CVJs had gone... they hadn't and he cured the clicking with a bit of grease! At the same time, he replaced my front discs (the other reason for my visit) with genuine parts and well below the cost I expected. He has done one or two other jobs (fortunately my car is well-behaved at the moment) and I have always been pleasantly surprised at the bill. On one job, we were looking under the bonnet and he saw that somebody hadn't put the battery terminals on quite at the right angle... so he just adjusted them as we were talking. I suppose it boils down to him loving Volvos!

Electromec, Runcorn
Would like to reccommend Electromec, Picow Farm Road, Runcorn, Cheshire. WA7 2UN. Tel 01928 566660. Not only for my volvo but for any make of vehicle.
Have used them for the last few years for all my cars. More recently have used them to reset 'SRS - Airbag Service Urgent' on my XC90 after I disconected my cd multi-changer without first disconecting the battery. Took 20 mins at a cost of £20. Not bad considering my local dealer wanted £100+ just to plug it into the diagnostic machine! Staff very friendly and helpful, and offer a full range of garage services Would deffo recomend and use again |

Recommendation for North Hertfordshire / Letchworth
I would like to recommend Independent Volvo Services who have looked after my car well since I got it nearly 3 years ago. They know their stuff inside-out and are much more cost effective then going to the main dealers and, for that matter, some other independents. http://www.independentvolvoservices.com/

I've used Braydon Motors in Hackney E5 8QJ, independent Volvo specialist for the past two years - £65/hr labour, good service.

I would like to recommend:
David Fisher in Carlisle. They have looked after my 740 for 3 years now, and I can not praise them enough. They love cars, they are motor engineers as well. £34/ph labour and they only charge for the amount of time they work so if they work for 1.5 hours you don't get charged for 2 They will source the parts for you but they are also happy to install parts you have sourced. Contact details: David Fisher 1 - 3 Old St Nicholas, Carlisle, Cumbria, CA1 2EQ 01228 401 424 |
