Shame they are located so deep that I needed to use most of my not inconsiderable bulk to get the seat locked on.
All good now though, and brownie points to me for not asking for assistance!
The brand of base you have makes a massive difference... we looked at several, most were a complete faff and didn't fit that securely for one reason or another so in the end settled for the Maxi Cosi 2-Way fix base as the IsoFix clamps are infinitely adjustable and also extend quite far out the back of the base, thus locating it in the V70 is really quite simple then it's a case of pushing it back in to the backrest and it's absolutely solid. Really is a fantastic piece of kit and I swap it from her V50 to my V70 with no issues.

on my 2003 D5 V70.The old one didn't look too bad.-- 120000 miles
The Volvo markings on the new one were buffed out.- what does that tell you?

Just 'cause you said that.....

Cooper CS5 Grand Tourings (205-55-16) A T rated, quality tire. They have a "mileage guarantee" of 80,000 miles.
I had CS4's on my previous car and loved them.
Total price with taxes, disposal, m&b...$142.25 each

That's £107.33.

What's the expected (advertised) life of your tyre and what did you pay for them?

As orvlongevity- I don't know. Some claim 15000, some claim 30000.
Pricewise- around £60 each.

Never mind that.
As I started to write this, sitting with idling engine- don't ask why, the engine started to producecsoubd best described as "thudding". With shakes. Opened hood- engine shaking. By ear- every revolution producing single thud. I was about half a mile from home, made it on energency lights/10mph/rev max 1000.

Made it. That's half success
Now I need to find out what is it.
I've got mere 2 weeks to either fix it or get new car (financially impossible) before " the big trip"

With 2 weeks on the clock I'd suggest having your codes read.

You could look to engine mounts or something out of line with your belts / pulleys.

Back to it tomorrow.

As it stands, I have no transport to work, so I'll better fix it good and quickly.

Today...

I replaced faulty ignition coil.

And 5 minutes later found out that I have a screw in one of tyres.

Fixed as well.

Mine does
And also warns me if something is a "pass" but may need doing over next few months.
I think I'll pop in soon so he can check underside for me- between official MOTs, but I'll rather be safe than sorry.. Got 2 weeks to make sure she'll go few thousand miles next month.
