Default V70 Suspension Wishbone Arm recommendations

Hi, MOT fail on one lower front suspension wishbone arm.

Other than genuine, any recommendations for replacement parts please.

The V70 is a 53 plate with only 63k miles and a very nice car, but it is getting on to be spending lots on it.

So far....31 views and no replies.................
If it was mine I'd go genuine Volvo.......give FRF in Swansea a call quoting C30 to get a discount for forum members.

I fitted Lemfoerder from ECP a couple of years back with no issues - consensus seems to be that Lemfoerder may be the OEM supplier. They were significantly cheaper at the time I bought them but appear to be around £130 each at full price at the moment...I did buy mine when they had one of their offers on and only paid around £80 - 90 each IIRC.

Anyone had any luck pressing their own bushes in?

If so, advice on tools or what a garage cost to press them in.

Lemforder control arms are just under £61 each including delivery from Autodoc. The bushings can be tricky to do and you could damage the arm if you're not careful.

Hi,

All I can add is I fitted non genuine arms and they failed again 30k later. Fitted genuine Volvo and 60k later no problems. I learned a lesson to fit OEM if possible.

The quality of aftermarket parts varies so much that you can't really take your experience into consideration without knowing what brand you used.

I cannot remember the brand without searching for the receipt. But I can remember it was from a major aftermarket online supplier and the brand was well known and recommended to me.

Most of my driving is on winding country roads. So the bushes will be worked hard compared to motorway driving. This may have been a contributory factor in their early demise. But the replacement OEM parts have had the same punishment and so far lasted twice as long.

With the discount available to the forum members the OEM parts were only approx £20 more.

The point I was trying to make was pick carefully and if in doubt go OEM.

The best long term answer is to fit poly bushes
