I agree with the above, the dealers workshop apprentice would probably have just peeled off the tape and stuck the plate onto a very shiny newly polished car.

My last car was stuck on and was failing after 2.5 years. New V90 came with screws.

Asked dealer who said that it was happening all the time so they now fit all with screws

All done now thanks, 2 screws in the upper third, pads in situ to take up the slack.

It surprises me that Volvo doen't deliver a custom frame that follows the shape of
the bumper and has a flat front to fit the licence plate, as they do with the XC90.

There’s still sufficient curvature on the XC90 frame to cause my front plate to almost pop off with tape only!

It is this frame? (zoom in for a better view): https://www.autoimportgarant.nl/wp-c...9/IMG_2024.jpg
But you are right, it is indeed curved very slightly. Is it not allowed to use screws in the four corners?
Couldn't you bend the plate a little bit so that it follows the shape of the frame?

Yes - I’ve fixed mine with two white capped screws.

UK number plates have a thick acrylic layer over a very thin aluminium or plastic reflective film layer on the back. They can’t really be bent and retain their shape, there’s too much spring in the acrylic, which is why they fight the sticky tape!

On a different note, who parked that car? Does it touch the wall?

Is the front licence plate in the UK provided by the authorities (the DVLA perhaps)?
In Belgium the owner has to provide it, they are often "stamped" from sheet aluminium and quite pliable.
