Considerable number of ES cars seem to be available, or have just come onto the market.
A quick glance at the Carandclassic website reveals the most recent P1800 vehicles to all be ES models. Is this unusual? |

I noticed taht as well, so I would say it is unusual. There have been some great looking ES recently and this is another. Where did that plate come from, would be nice to know the car's history.

Well it started out as 180 OES in Dundee way back over 50 to 100+ years ago it has been transferred from car to car over the years and ended up on this 1800ES .. There is no such thing as a "private" plate by the way they are all run of the mill standard issue numbers .

Registration
The registration is not 180 OES as suggested, nor has it been on other cars - it is 1800 ES and was bought at a DVLA auction.
The buyer of the car at the CCA auction paid £24980 including premium. |

I don't know if any of you chaps actually attended but I did and went with a view to potentially purchase the car.
The blurb and associated score suggested that the car should have been in pretty stunning condition and the mileage of 23700 or 32700 would have lead one to believe this too.....the car in reality was somewhat different. The underside was 'caked' in grime, rear axle leaking oil, all suspension components looking decidedly 100,000miles +, the engine bay was filthy, seats had lost all their colour and the paint job (done professionally at a dealership to keep his staff busy) was of a standard that I would have fired the lot of them! All sounds pretty scathing and several other P enthusiasts at the auction shared my sentiment. For the car to hammer at £22k plus commission I sincerely hope the new owner isn't suffering buyers remorse..I'm glad I didn't raise my paddle past £12k...1800ES number plate or not. All that said, great to see such a collection of cars going under the hammer, especially when a bidding war ensues...Ford Fiesta Popular Plus...£7700!😱 |
