Default V70 tailgate onto 855?

Hiya,

Just wondering if a V70 tailgate will be a bolt-on swap, electrics and all, onto my 855? My 855s tailgate has some clearcoat failure, and some rust appearing on the leading edge. I've found a V70 tailgate in the correct colour for significantly less than it would cost me to repair/respray my current tailgate.

Are the two a straight swap? I know I have to get the bulb failure relay from the V70 too, as the relay for the V70s LED is different to that of the 850s halogen, but beyond that?

Cheers,

As far as I'm aware it's a straight swap - my 855 came with a V70 tailgate (+ badges) and my bulb failure dash light works (well, it flickers every time I touch the brakes as it happens). Only real difference is a high level brake light rather than wiper-height and colour coder strip across the handle...

Good to hear. I wonder if one can swap the lock cylinder barrel? Or if we can swap the colour coded handle strip for the grey one, to keep the lock. I already went for colour coded handles, so need the boot lock cylinder as the back-up incase the remote fails.

I only swapped a spoiler from an 850 to a V70, but I did find the hinges to be slightly different, the overall design was the same but the arm thicknesses were different, so possibly best to be sure the 'new' tailgate is complete with hinges and then you can use whichever works best.

Straight swap... my old 850 T5 had a V70 tailgate, everything bolts up / plugs in and the LED brake lights were fine however I hasten to add, I didn't fit it personally but saw no physical difference however you'll have to alter the loom for the brake light, I'd assume.
