Hazard, rear window and rear view mirror heater switches
Hello again all.
All of the switches listed in the title light up when depressed but there are no lights when they are off. Basically this means at night I cant see what switch to press or where they are. Is this normal or is a light out somewhere? If it is normal I'll be fitting a small light so I can actually see the switches. Thanks in advance Joe |

There should be light from above shining down on to the switches. Not a strong light arrangement. LED can help.

Joe: ~ going from memory here, under the part highlighted in yellow you should see two slits that transfer light to the top of the switches. I think it is one bulb (maybe two) you can access the same by part removal of the centre console holding the switches—I can’t recall if you can get at the bulb holder if these are removed? I replaced my bulbs with the brighter LED type extending the loom slightly to incorporate a couple of extra bulb holders.
Trust if helps – Bob. |

Brilliant. Thankyou. I saw those slits and thought they might be for something to do with the lights.
Thankyou so much |

It would appear mine doesnt have a light there when I took the dash off yesterday. I'll buy some battery operated light or led strip to put above the switches I think.

There should be a bulb. When pulling the center console (4 bolts - 2 on the bottom 2 on the side + 2 clips on the side) you should see the slit with a built in bulb holder. The bulb on mine came loose and went hiding being the wire mess. You could try to turn on the car and switch the headlights on - the bulb should lit up allowing you to find it !

So far as I remember on my SE.There is a lens along the top of both those slits, and a bulb holder fits in a hole in the middle of that lens. Approximately as said above, the bulb holder can be out of the hole in then lens, the bulb can be dead, the connection can have come loose. The lens can be partially cleaned, the bulb can be swapped for a higher rating. I would be interested to see details of led to totally replace the bulb and the lens.

This is what I was met with. Looks like a bulb should be in there but there is no wires or bulb holders going to it and no loose bulb floating anywhere. I tried putting one small bulb I had spare in there but no joy.
Might have been the wrong one. The mystery continues |
