Default EGR valve replaced still showing error when cold

I’ve just replaced the EGR valve on my 2006 D5 (for sale), and its running much better. However, from cold it is still triggering an Engine Service Required warning and a 44B0 code - EGR position sensor faulty signal iirc.

A bit frustrating and I’m not convinced there’s much awry, but wondered if anyone had any experience or ideas? The cooler and tract were cleaned up at the same time and so this is the last piece of the jigsaw.

Cheers

No, at this stage just the valve - the whole Tracy was pretty full and unpleasant.

I can delete the code with the engine warm and it will start and run without recurring, until I let it cool overnight and then the code returns. I may try giving it a good run to see if that helps, but would like to resolve of course.

Also, not seen the position sensor available anywhere. If I need to replace is a sensor only or is integrated with the stepper motor?

Cheers

the position sensor is available from the dealer , about £120 a few years ago when i last changed one . Hopefully it is not the EGR motor seized not allowing the egr position sensor to move?

That’s helpful. Is there a way to check whether the motor is OK using VIDA? or is it just a case of trying a swap?

Thanks!

yes you can activate the EGR valve via vida . but if you take the position sensor off , you should be able to press the egr valve and motor in against spring pressure and it should spring back out if it is ok . If it IS free you will need a new position sensor .
