Question Drive belt replacement

My Serpentine drive belt snapped due to the A/C pump seizing. Is it possible to use a new drive belt for a car without A/C to bypass the faulty A/C pump?, as my Volvo V70 petrol is 16 years old and I don't think it is worth replacing the pump.

Certainly is. Just take the actuator pump off and chuck it in the bin, fit the shorter belt and voila!

If the A/C compressor seized, the clutch should still allow the pulley to turn. Is it worth isolating the clutch electrical supply to prevent the clutch locking and the same problem recurring ? My compressor was seized and I didn't know until a re gas which stopped the engine when the A/C cut in. The gas was then just recovered, ( as it should be ), and I ran the car without A/C with no problems.
