Default replacement exhaust

I need to replace the exhaust on my volvo 265. I think (hope) the manifold is ok, I have the section shown in the pics and want the rear sections.

Firstly, are the rear sections the same as the 245?

Do you know what the sections are called/part no?

Do you know a good (cheap) supplier?

I've never fitted an exhaust before, I'm guessing there's gaskets to go between and I'd need to buy these separatly, any idea of part numbers and do I have to buy the full set?

I can't upload the pics right now as there too large, I'll take some more later. It goes from the manifolds through a silencer and probably back as far as the rear axle.

Cheers.

your local exhaust place should be able to get the parts in for you quite cheaply as its the fitting that costs the money ,the only one i would hesitate doing myself would be the downpipe from the manifold incase i snapped a bolt
if you agree a price for it fitted if it goes tits up they fix it
i think from my local the tail pipe was £8 and the over the axle one £11

It's worth deciding what quality you want. The cheap ones will corrode through quickly, while a stainless steel pipe will last forever.

I also found that the ordinary cheap downpipe was very noisy. When I bought a genuine Volvo one I could see why - the real ones are made of much thicker steel and weigh twice as much, so damp down resonance. Also the weld joints had been properly smoothed out on the inside to eliminate turbulence.

I tried the local exhaust place and europarts but tuey couldn't help. We don't have a Volvo dealer on the isle of wight any more. Are the rear sections the same on a 245 and a 265?

Quite probably, but I don't know.
But there are two different types of 240 pipe with different styles of intermediate box exit pipe and diameters. Either will fit, but the whole system has to be consistent.

I once had new bits that wouldn't fit together because the male/female sections seemed to be reversed.

Yes, they are!
All the same! Only it differs in case having a catalytic converter or not.
I can prove if you give me your VIN. Then I can give you the Part-numbers
Have you an B27F oder a B27A/E?

I also have a swedish link for stainless steel exaust pipes... Interested?
Attenstion expensive (around 350 GBP)

If you're in the VOC you'll get a good deal on a full stainless system from 'Guaranteed Exhausts'. They made me a bespoke hi flow system for 230 quid!

I'm looking at exhausts for my 940 at the moment. 'Guaranteed Exhausts' can supply complete standard systems so you will just have to fit it. I'm considering getting one made for mine and there are a few places around who can do this. I'm near Salisbury so Longlife at Amesbury, Maniflow at Salisbury or there is Powerflow in Southampton. Powerflow seemed a bit expansive compaired with the other two.

Don't rule out the Standard Volvo systems if you can still get them for early cars. They are good quality and not much dearer than factors ones.
