Default 145 origional Full Length Roof-Rack

Hi,

Anybody interested in an original 145 roof rack?

This one is in lovely condition. It packs away nicely. The wooden slats are also in lovely condition.

If you are interested, let me know.

Cheers,

Darren.

nope, no plans to sell at the moment - it's too nice a drive!
If, however, I were to consider selling then I would always look to this forum first.

Hi Kean,

How would you rate the handling with the bilsteins and heavy duty rear springs? She is a lovely old girl.

Cheers,

Mitch

Hello Mitch,

It's suprisingly well-balanced overall as a chassis. Maybe the heavier-duty rear springs help move grip to the front.
The only thing with the rear springs is perhaps they're a little too stiff when not loaded over low speed transverse bumps (especially darn speed bumps) where it skips unless you go really slow indeed.
Renewing front w/b bushes, ball-joints and idler bushes has lightened the steering at low speed and allows it to hold its intended geometry through the bends. It turns in consistently well, but remains progressive and yaw predictable.
The ride is smooth (and improved by renewed bushes) almost all of the time, with only a little disturbance when travelling over short frequency ripples. I'm no expert, but I suspect the dampers are doing a great job, but maybe the rear springs are a bit too strong for a match when the rear is unloaded.
Obviously the old girl rolls a fair bit in corners compared to some of the other cars currently on the fleet: I dare say I am tempted by Vintage Performance Developments' progressive spring proposal, but, other than perhaps incurring Darren's wrath, I'm not sure how much better the ride & handling need be as a standard daily drive.
I'll get around to renewing the rear bushes this year and I rather think that'll return her to her former glory and quite probably not want for anything else handling wise.
Phew - that was supposed to be a Quick Reply, but I kind of got on a bit of a roll.
Great to make contact, by the way - Darren had spoken about you whilst in the process of passing the car to me.
Cheers,
Kean

By the way, did that super roof-rack go to a new owner?
It really was a beauty, but I couldn't find the space or the cash at the time of sale...

Yep Darren has sold it I'm afraid. They do come up though and I have one I hope to modify for my Amazon.
