I have a CR-708 in the new 940 which is ok but I am getting a CR-906 to run six speakers and a CD changer. I would like speakers in the front and rear doors and on the parcel shelf. I understand that I can then get tweeters for the dashboard, does anyone know how this works?

George

Hi George, Does the cr-906 have the amplifier built in? I think you would be ok with four speakers of 4 ohms impedance if the unit has a built in front to rear fader, if not then 8 ohms must be used if the unit isn't going to be damaged. Pick a pair of tweeters with a very high impedance and you can just split the front left and front right outputs between them. It's difficult to advise without some technical spec. Do you have any details you post or email me?

The Cr-906 has a six speaker output. What you suggest would work fine, thanks.

The CR906 is arranged so that the tweeters (each end of dash) are driven from the radio head unit and the four door speakers are driven from the amplifier unit. I have a set of six speakers spare which consists of two dual cone tweeters and four dual cone door units. If they are of any use I will keep them for you. I don't know if you are coming to England before Gaydon Volvo Day (Aug 31st) but if you are coming to Gyadon and can wait until then I will be there with them.

All the best, Peter

I have now had to take the decision to scrap but 745 TIC as my sister-in-law no longer wants it. Thus, I have a Kenwood headunit with CD changer for the 940. I also have an amp so I can fit rear speakers. Cheers anyway, Peter.

Amplifier should be under the right hand side of the dash, IIRC to right of steering column. How does £45 sound?

hiya guys, omg been searching for this post throughout the net for the past two days. I've got some jbl 5.25" component speakers i want to fit into the front door cards. I want to fit the midbass in the original doorcard, its a 940GLS i think, and had no speakers in there before, just speakers on the dash which are shocking.
So I wanted to wire up the midbasses in the doors, and the tweeters, in the area where the grills are on the dash.
Problem here though is i have a clarion cd player that i want to fit in, and being my fathers car, he replaced the standard unit with a pioneer tape cassette player, and but out the standard block. So i need to know what leads are what now so i can wire up my comps.
There seems to be wires in the door which i've connected to the speaker midbasss, but when turning the radio on, there is no sound through them, just through the speakers on the dash. I heard there is an amplifier under the dash somewhere, and being a GLS,and not coming with speakers in the front as standard, how do i wire up my comps. Also i got some pioneer 6 by 9"s which i would like to house in the rear parcel shelf which already has nicely 6by9clearance holes in the metal of the parcel shelf frame.
ne help will be much appreciated :)
