Default Tyre query!

Happy New Year guys, hope you all had a nice / safe one!

Picked up my brand new V60 R Design yesterday having been offered a deal I just couldn't refuse, moving from a 2017 V90 Inscription.

Absolutely love it, and don't actually miss my heated steering wheel either!

Big question, I've always had winter tyres. The V90 had 245/45/18, and the V60 is 235/45/18... I've got a pretty much brand new set of Goodyear winters at home, and rather than trying to sell second hand (though immaculate) tyres, would I run into any issues putting them on the V60?

Also, is there even an SPA V60 forum on here? Can't find it anywhere!

Its a stunning car the V60!

I'd say you should be just about alright with the 245/45 tyres, plenty of alternate tyre size calculators return it as a reasonable alternative.

There is and it's this forum, I don't think the forum names reflect the cars accurately but there's plenty of SPA S/V60 posts in here.

I would say you should be OK too. It will give you a tiny bit more sidewall and a slightly wider tyre on the rim which should be better than going the other way. I see some BMW tyres which seem very stretched across the wheel and the rim of the alloy looks very vulnerable.

Happy for someone to check my maths, but using 25.4mm to the inch and 3.1417 as pi, I get a rolling circumference as

2101mm for the 235 profile and 2129mm for the 245 profile. This is a difference of 1.36 percent.

This means the speedo will be out by (under read I think?) 1.36 percent, but of course the speedo already over reads as standard by about 6 percent (in my car at least) so will just reduce that margin a bit.

This saves doing the maths!

Cheers guys, looks like I'm getting it to the tyre fitters then! It won't be going too far, but it's nice to have the security of proper rubber on there this time of year. It's got Primacy 4s on it which the V90 had, and when I took the winters off last time I noticed a massive difference in handling, even just on the cold and damp.
