This is all, of course, very much dependent on the display that you have.

Default Can the main display (elegance) be changed to km/h?

Folks,

I know how to get the tiny, incy-wincy little box in the bottom right of the digital display to show km/h. But I don't want to spend my whole holiday staring at that

By changing the My Car setting to kph/ltr it just changes the fuel usage and distance units in the little boxes too.

What I really want is to have the main display units change - on elegance. Can I make that change from mph to km/h? If so how? I have checked the manual - honestly!

Advice?

Arianne (being thick, again!)

I've tried everything on my 2014 MY V40 and can't get KP/H on the big display. 2800 miles across Europe focusing on the tiny display in the corner. An MG Maestro managed this in 1983 FFS.

Bottom line is A that you can't. I have written to customer services about this and they agreed with me and forwarded it on to Sweden. Can I suggest everyone inundates Volvo customer services about the alarming oversight. Its surely just a programming issue.

Thanks.

So your fancy dan, super duper, sexy displays have a flaw. Get yourself a basic SE and then you can have a great big digital Kph readout in the centre of the speedo display. Then again...................

I am not sure what the issue is here, I lived for many years in Germany with a UK car and the speedo in mph. You quickly realised that 50kph = 30mph, 80kph = 50mph and that 120kph = 75mph.

I agree though that it is another oversight (or cockup) by Volvo with the user interface that doesn't seem to be properly integrated across the various displays and functions.

Never had a speeding ticket in all the years I lived there, now in UK that is a rather different matter

You're absolutely right Crockers about this. We've been in France for two weeks now and my wife and I spent hours trying to find out exactly how to do this! Having emailed my dealer, he's confirmed that my Jan 2014 XC60 D5 (RRP about £36K!), built in Belgium and with a UK spec, doesn't have the ability to change the digital speedo dial into KPH and so we have to rely on this appallingly small KPH readout in the bottom RH part of the gauge!

I've already complained to Volvo UK about this but received the reply that, 'There are no plans to change this'! Well, I think that this is an absolute disgrace and it should be on the next, or immediate, 'High Priority' service upgrade list. I didn't buy a car with lots of toys on just to have to flap around after getting off a ferry at Calais and not be able to change my speedo into KPH (and set my cruise control in KPH!) when I can alter the NAV and headlights at the click of a button on MY CAR!

Come on Volvo, get your act together! We paid you a lot of money for our XC60s, we're part of the EU and any Volvo bought in Europe should be able to change the digital speedo from MPH to KPH, and vice versa!

Now that is what I would describe as p*** poor customer care and also mind boggling considering Volvo's self proclaimed core focus on safety.

Now where is the emoticon for 'shakes head in disbelief'

Can't find it so award for lack of effort

Does seem like an oversight. After all, the new display and technology behind it was presumably developed in KPH originally. Can't they just add a further little calculation in the software to times speed by five then divide by 9 to get KPH equivalent!

Simples............

A bigger question is what the hell are the type approval people doing because there appears to be no one in Europe taking the RHD markets into consideration.

CoC on a RHD car certainly Sir! just pop a donation in the box marked Staff Tips.

Even my 2012 Suzuki motorbike which cost about a quarter of a new XC60 can switch between the two.
