Default V70 throttle cable

ANOTHER APPEAL, PLEASE!

Could all you kind members ask, when next at your Volvo dealer, if by chance they still have a throttle cable for a T Reg V 70 2.5. My car must be one of the last fitted with a cable - so the year before 'T' would do - 1997/8. Mine is not far off snapping, I fear!

Thank you for your help.

Buryan aka Kenneth.

Not being funny Kenneth, but why don't you ask your Volvo dealer if they have the throttle cable you need?

Seriously, they have access to stock, not just in their own store room or even in the same county but worldwide. They can also order from GCP - Genuine Classic Parts which is Volvos "heritage" parts division, based in Sweden.

Alternatively, you can order direct from GCP : https://www.gcp.se/en/

Other places to try could include Skandix, IPD, FCP Euro, Rock Auto to name but a few. These are all overseas but so is Sweden. Then there is PFV, Braydon Motors, FRF and a few others in the UK so there's plenty of choice.

If you do order from abroad, make sure the part you order is for a RHD car as many LHD parts won't fit RHD cars.

I found that out the hard way! The cable on our 340 snapped when we were on holiday in Sweden. LHD parts were readily available, but were too short, so they had to put a RHD one on special order.

Of course, if the position had been reversed, we could have got away with a RHD cable on a LHD car by putting a loop in it!

Regards, John.
