USB C sticks and music
Quick question….
I’ve been told by my dealer that the android automotive cars will play music from a usb memory stick as long as it is a USB C memory stick, using the built in music player (so no download of an external android app). Could anyone with a usb c memory stick and a >MY22 car confirm this please? I may buy one and go and try it with the dealer but this is quicker and cheaper! Thanks

What built in music player?
I had one on Sensus. But I cannot find one on AAOS.

It’s the AAOS not sensus system that is being discussed here.

What ports/holes does the car have, which you can plug a stick into?
USB-C seems a little more modern than a lot of cars I've seen, most have the original USB (USB-A) format ports ... you don't need the extra speed of USB-C to play music or even video. |

I'm all for it as it stops end users from attempting to plug one end of the cable in upside down and claim it 'wont fit' |

I use a USB-C memory stick via the port with the white border and using audiowagon (search via the centre console) - Volvo for reasons beyond my understanding do not supply an app to play audio via a USB port. The USB stick will need formatting using FAT32 or if larger than 32GB then exFAT (I use RUFUS @ https://rufus.ie/en/ to format larger memory sticks). You will get an error message from AAOS that the USB drive is not supported, click OK. You will also get an error message from audiowagon, again, click OK.

Yes it works - (ish)
I have a 2023 model XC60 T8 Ultimate etc etc.
The ports exist in the centre armrest, and will play mp3s recorded on a usb stick/ - I actually use a USB- A and an adapter. The caveat is that the on board system won't recognise a usb drive >32GB. There is a workaround. Downboad the AudioWagon App to the car, and if you have a larger USB drive, (mine is 128Gb) format it as FAT32, the car won't recognise it, (you get an annoying box on the screen every time you start the car), BUT if you just press OK and continue, AudioWagon WILL play what's on the drive. It take a minute or two to load initially as it has to recreate it's library every time, but after that you can search reasonably well on the drive. Hope this helps
