It is plain here on the volvo web site that it is ADDED on to the current factory warranty.

https://www.volvocars.com/uk/l/used-...-and-benefits/

Make sure you get this confirmed in writing at the dealer you are dealing with

My car was the classic "demonstrator fiddle" so was selected unregistered from the stock list, registered to the dealer and registered to me the moment it showed up on the DVLA database.

As a result it was sold at "4 days old" to me as a Selekt vehicle.

I had the full warranty book and so on. Worthless, as you've spotted it means nothing as the 3 year / 60000 mile warranty was longer.

The only benefit it gave was some sort of MOT insurance for the first MOT, but given I didn't have that done at the dealer, and it passed anyway, I've no idea whether that would have covered anything anyway.

Exactly the same fiddle / warranty on my previous V70. A special that Mill Newcastle used to do every single year - but sadly no longer do.

As I read it the vehicle less than 24 months old will only have the balance of the manufacturer’s warrranty and vehicle between 24&36 months will have 12 months warranty part the balance of the manufacture’s warranty and the remaining few months to 12 months covered by the Volvo Selekt warranty, not 12 months at the end of the manufacturer’s warranty.

OK, I've just spoken AGAIN to someone (actually one of the people I spoke to this morning) at Volvo Selekt. It says on their system it's a paint warranty, but in fact it's NOT a paint warranty. He tells me it refers to the "additional benefits" section of the Selekt warranty booklet (which I did not previously have).
This does seem to have some benefits - eg car hire of up to ten days, not three; hotel expenses of £100, not £90; and different amounts for emergency travel. But it strikes me that this is more "additional c**kup rather than additional benefit.
