940 Self levelling suspension Conversion
My 940 turbo estate is fitted with a self levelling suspension which appears to have a compressed air inlet in the left boot well. The manual recommends that this should be set at about 6 Bar. These have now failed and I would like to remove this system and replace it with the traditional arrangement of load coils and shock absorbers. Would appreciate any advice or tips.

RE: 940 Self levelling suspension Conversion
The manual self levelling system using air pressure is a non-Volvo fitting and I have never come across one actually fitted to a car so I cannot give any hints on its removal but replacing the rear shocks and springs on a Volvo 700/900 is dead easy. You be best off getting heavy duty springs and good shocks or, what I would prefer but more expensive, standard springs and so called Nivomats. These are the factory fitted self levelling shocks that work a treat and are fully automatic. They cost a fair deal but are excellent. Do not use the softer springs normally fitted to these cars as this give a ride that is too soft but use standard springs.
