Default 740 radiator in a 240

I am sure I've seen somewhere on here that the 240 and 740 radiators are the same. I ask because I need to replace one in a 240 and at the back of my shed there is a 740 rad buried under a pile of other stuff.
If it will work then its worth tunnelling through to it. I think there is some 740 headlight units as well back there. Know anyone who wants them?

240/740 rads are the same.
740 headlights - they off a facelift model (with the coloured trim either side of the grille)?

Sorry I don't know which model they are from. I'll be digging them out later today so will post a photo to you. probably easier for me if you pm me your email, as I have always found it tremendously difficult to get photo's posted on this site.

I myself fitted a 740 rad as I couldn't find a decent 240 one with auto gearbox cooler,The only difference is the cowling which had me stumped until I realised it's deeper on the 740.Oh and the oil pipes were different from the gearbox, they were longer! I have only just got round to shortening the one I had to use.
Some folks have even fitted a 940 cooling fan but this isn,t a simple task unless your very practically minded.
Regards Brian.

Does this mean that I can fit a 940 Rad and eclectic fan (it's offset you know) into a 240? I'm not fussed about the temperature switch for engaging the fan- a dash-mounted one will do.

The radiator mounts, and outlets are in the same place as on the 240. Make sure you get the standard size 940 rad - some are taller. Ther should be a temp sensor in the 940 rad - just apply 12v from the ignition to the sensor, then to the fan, then from the fan to the bodywork.

Sounds like a plan to me - if it works there'll be a barely one-year-old 240 manual TX radiator up for sale; just hope the local breaker's still got the 940 in........
