Question ECM6805 error code. Boost pressure control. faulty flow.

Hi, I am a new member and don't know a great deal about cars. My 2002 S60 d5 se has really been struggling when you put your foot down and is a shadow of its former self.

Took it to the local volvo dealer......and lets just say what a waste of £50 for a diagnostic....car was with them 25 mins and they said my cluster panel is on its way out and that it was the clutch at fault. When asking how they could have diagnosed it was my clutch without taking it for a spin they said they did a 'test' and when i repeated the 'test' over 8 times in front of them, it clearly showed it was not my clutch, as it never failed once!

Having got a proper read done for £5 the slip said:

ECM6805 error code. Boost pressure control. faulty flow. Done some research and other people who have this code have the same lack of power. Just want to sort it as i miss the power it had.

Trying to get my head around how to sort, but dont trust my local volvo garage. Anyone can shed some light on whats needed?

Dare i say it, anyone around Nottingham worth taking my car to. If I am going to spend money on it, i want someone who has experience of this, and don't trust my local volvo garage as far as I can throw them.

Any advice thankfully received.

regards
A

Sounds like the intercooler has popped. Check for oil around the radiator and condensor. Also check boost hoses for leaks and splits.

check the vac lines using a hand vac pump such as a mityvac. This was causing mine to go into limp home and 6805 was logged. if the engine mounts are leaky then this could be the cause. Its worth getting your hands on a PPC diagnostic tool but the new one is expensive (400 old one was 100 ish)

Red face

Hi all,

Took my Volvo to DPA in Nottingham. Chap there was switched on and mentioned everything mentioned in these forums by me just letting him know the code. Gave a llttle confidence.

Then the little gadget stuck on the side of the airbox, the chap disconnected the 2 hoses from the device, bypassing it and joined the 2 hoses together, and asked me to see if that helped the problem. Really gave me time and explained what was going on.

I drove it 6 miles back home and not a sniff of limp mode. I will drive it over the next 6 days and see how it goes. Booked in for a check out on Wed next week.....probably smoke test etc...

Will keep you posted.

Cheers

Question

So does the engine pads solenoid valve is the problem or maybe it's one of the engine pads?
