So here we go engine noise discovered
Good afternoon chaps
I want to thank you all for your help and suggestions So I spoke to the engineer this morning and he told me that when he removed the sump he wasn’t able to see any problem under there so he took off the head and found number one cylinder has a “bent con rod” he is going to pressure test the head as he thinks I may have had a small coolant leak or oil issue, I will know more over the next week as it’s a bank holiday weekend here the bill has dropped to €2000 reason for the Heavy ticking noise was the big end was striking the very bottom of the bore and the small end was also striking the crank counterweight.. Cheers Vol.

Martin was on the money! Sorry to hear that, Vol, hopefully you can get her sorted. Are you planning to upgrade or stick with stock internals?

Not a victory I'm happy about but it is all too common on these. Low revs and booting is not a good idea, be gentle under 3k rpm.
