I would just renew the whole thing and be careful to tighten the outer and inner parts with a torque wrench to the correct torque , you buy volvo parts from a volvo dealer , no problem ..

Same happened to me yesterday. I'm picking a new one up from Volvo this morning. About £3.50

I ended up having to use a set of Stillsons to remove the entire drain plug ( catching my already clean fluid in a container for refilling ) and then when I had that in the vice I cut a slot in the damaged centre " level bolt" and gently tapped it loose with a hammer and screwdriver.

Reassembled everything and got level correct before installing new bolt at quite a low torque to avoid a repeat.

Just a reminder when doing oil changes in anything, make 100% sure the fill plug is removeable before draining oil!
Nothing worse then draining something only to discover you can't refill it!

I have never done this....

Absolutely Lugs, whether it be a diff, gearbox, Haldex, ALWAYS check that the fill nut will come out before draining.

Good Point!!!!
