Default Looks like I'm going to have to break my V70

I have a 2001 V70 2.4T petrol which has suffered a couple of minor problems.
I had the throttle body converted to contactless to try and alleviate a cutout problem which didn't improve after refitting. The battery is kaput, but once jumpstarted, she ticks over like a dream. Problem here is, she will not rev over 4000rpm. She is not MOT'ed, has a dent in the bonnet thanks to a neighbours kids football!
Apart from that, she is as sound as a pound. New pattern exhaust fitted 5 years ago, but has sat for the last three on my drive. Interior is cream leather with the dog net in the rear seat unit. Factory fit stereo.
I was quoted £200 to get her roadworthy from a Volvo indy a few years back, but as an auto, could not tow her there to get the work done.
Dropped the price down to £300 but no one wants her.
I really don't want to scrap her unless I have to as she's been a diamond to drive up until things started to go wrong. I'd rather she become a 'donor'!!!
General condition is superb.
Who wants what and for how much?

That really doesn't sound like a car that needs to be binned. Not sure why it would not rev past 4000rpm's. When you fitted the contactless, did you recalibrate using VIDA? If not, that might do it. None of the other issues you mention suggesting to me that you should give up on this car but it would help if you could confirm the cause of no high RPM's. Not sure if it helps but I just bought my 2004 S60 2.5T from a guy who was convinced that the car could only be sold for parts. He was looking for $500CAD which I think is in the ballpark of what you are suggesting. Good luck sorting it all out. I'd love to find out what the cause of the RPM issue is.

Watching this with interest as I'm in a similar boat.My P1 2.4 n/a would sufer a fluctuating idle if I took it much above 2,000rpm and if I took it to 4,000rpm it was like hitting a brick wall.A mate converted it to contactless and now it has a lumpy idle all the time and while it'll rev smoothly it won't go higher than 3,500 rpm but it's still smooth once there and not stuttering like it's hit a rev limiter or anything.I've asked the question in the section relevant to my car but with no joy thus far.

The same symptoms appeared on a friends V70 after going contactless - recalibration by an Indy using VIDA, as pierremcalpine suggests above, sorted it. Still running smoothly 4 years later.

Can't find any instructions of recalibrating using Vida. I have Vida already.

It’s kind of convoluted but I think you go to “diagnostics” then select CEM module, then activations and the click ”throttle position adaptation” or something. Don’t do what I did though: to run the adaptation remember to click on the VT2000 icon to start the process. I think I just clicked on enter or something which obviously does nothing.

Tried all of the above with no joy. Still won't go above 4000rpm so unless someone wants her for £300, I'm going to break her. Any offers?

With mine I got advice on doing a "cold reset" so tried that, only effect that had was to increase the rev limit to 4,000 again but still the constant lumpy idle.So before looking for someone local with a Vida I decided I'd take it back off and have a tinker-if it all went Pete Tong I'd have just scrapped it-took the contactless part off first and slightly bent the contacts to make sure they were touching the ones in the throttle body itself[I don't know if that was the right or wrong thing to do,but I did it anyway]then after replacing that I lifted the other one away slightly so as not to break the two very fine wires at the top and made sure soldering was all good and nothing touching that I thought shouldn't be then refitted that.Replaced the unit on the car tightening the four bolts as tight as I dared take them and then-having routed the wiring ahead of instead of behind the starter motor- made sure the electrical plug was fully seated home and tight.Started car-bit of crossed fingers here-and it idled beautifully, let it warm up a few minutes and then revved it.Counter shot round to 6,000 smooth as you like and settled back instantly to smooth idle when I released the pedal.I now realise this is how it should have been all along and I'd been using it from buying it with a dodgy system!
