does anyone know of the cheap version?

i saw it a while back but cant find it now

Just look at your current one.
The maker's name and part number is printed on it.

You can get the Pierburg branded version which is identical to genuine for £82.
I'm not aware of anything cheaper but to be honest, I wouldn't want any other make either.

How have you decided your current one is dead and needs replacing?

i get limp mode now and again and it boils down to a vacuum leak.

i bought a vacuum test kit and tested all the vac lines separately and they are all airtight.

and when it happened last time, vida said it was the solenoid.

I've never heard of Vida diagnosing a faulty boost solenoid.
What was the fault code and description?

The solenoid is super reliable but easily fixable if required in nearly all cases.
