Running it with no EGR on the intake? Haha! It would definitely make the neighbours complain... They honestly complain about anything louder than my D24.

I used a 47k resistor on my 300c when I buggered up the valve changing the turbo, bought me a weeks worth of no limp home mode.

Correct, the '40 proves hard to defeat.

Anyway, in possession of a 2nd hander from a pick n pull yard. Its going in and out on a test drive.

As for my competence? I prefer to ask for a little help on an engine I've never worked on before I jump in, I work mainly on rwd, red and whiteblock engines, with a d24, om642 and a few 2 stroke engines, just for sh#ts and giggles.

Completed. No codes, no clatter, smoke or bad running. A stuffed EGR was to blame.

I'm not a mechanic by trade. More of an odd job bloke. So its a steep learning curve.

Without all the various forums I'd be stuffed.

This used to be a really good forum but if I had to get rid of my volvo tomorrow, I wouldn't miss it (the forum).

I'm not on any of the merc forums but have found there is a wealth of info on any merc of a certain age. Old SLKs etc.

A lot of the really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful people don't seem to be on here any more! The nice atmosphere has gone!

Still a few stalwarts and repeat offenders hanging on though.
