Square top mount How much play is normal?
Hello,
Ive heard a lot on this forum about the top mount on the S60-D5 being the first one to usually go, I had a look at the one on my 06reg D5 185 car and it seems to have a fair bit of movement in both vertical and horizontal direction until the centre "floating" rubber piece makes contact with the outer aluminium frame (see pic attached), anyone know the answers on these questions.. 1- Should there be movement, or is this one worn out? and how much should there be? 2- Can you get the centre rubber part, or do you have to replace the whole component (bush + outer cast frame that bolts to top of engine?). 3- I hear the older version D5's have a round mount, do these later square ones wear out in a similar fashion?. 4- Is the mount different to petrol engines? Any helpful thoughts appreciated! |

Yes this is quite normal , the design is completely different , the rubber block is more a buffer now and it will last considerably longer than the old round bush ... The whole part is bought as one ...
