Central Locking fault
V70 Diesel 2001. Intermittent fault with central locking - sometimes works, other times doesn't. Because it's intermittent, difficult to resolve and fix. Any ideas on possible solution?

Is the issue of non locking with the key fob? Can you lock all doors with the key. Can you lock all doors from the drivers door panel.
When it don't work is it all doors won't lock or just one particular one ?? Initial reaction is poor/bad electrical contacts somewhere. Cheers Bob |

As above plus does it affect just locking or unlocking or both. If remote locking is the issue, does the other fob behave the same way?
Just need more info for folk to be able to give you a better diagnosis |

V70 Central Locking
Thanks for your responses.
All doors can lock/unlock on the key. The intermittent fault occurs when either fob is used and affects all doors. Battery has been changed in key fob but fault remains. |

Does is affect locking or unlocking more? That might suggest a dodgy switch on the fob which is quite common.
What distance are you operating it from? Does it happen regardless of where the car is parked? Often localised RF signals from cordless phones, wireless access points etc can reduce the range and reliability of your fob. It may also be duff UEM which I seem to recall is around £400 to replace. The answer will be on the forum somewhere |

If it's the upper electronics module (UEM) that's gone bad, my experience was that it would still work but you have to be right up close to the rear view mirror.
Next time it doesn't work, try getting really close to the front windscreen
