Default V70 hands free retrofit

Hi all,

So I've recently purchased a 2011 (60 plate) V70 D5 R-Design and I'm looking to retrofit a hands free kit. Aside from the usual parrot etc. I've come across this Volvo kit: http://www.volvopartshop.com/handsfr...11-15286-p.asp

Does anyone have any experience with this kit? In particular I'm wondering if this will plug into the existing console controls. The console already has controls for accessing the phone (see attached image) and ideally I'd like to install a kit that makes use of these.

I know this kit is pretty expensive but I'm happy to pay if this does integrate with the existing controls and there are no alternative integrated solutions.

Thanks for any help you have to offer!

Stephen

The picture you've attached is from an XC60 isn't it?

Aside from that, I'm surprised that a 2011 D5 came without bluetooth.

Sorry, can't really offer a "real" answer to your question

Thanks, the image was just taken off of Google but it shows the same phone controls as found in my v70

If you have a "PHONE" button then you should be able to connect your phone to it via bluetooth. What happens on your dash when you press the PHONE button?

You should be able to connect a phone on a 2011MY car. Whilst I've briefly skimmed the instructions in the handbook my phone was attached in seconds by the Volvo dealer salesman.

It might not be the same problem but IIRC there was a Thread a while ago about connecting phones via bluetooth and the problem was with which type/make of phone that was being connected as the Volvo system only accepted certain phones e.g. iPhone, Samsung etc.

My advice would be to go to whoever sold you the car or a Volvo main dealer and just ask the question "I am unable to connect my mobile phone to the car via bluetooth, is something wrong with the car?" As Andy has already stated "You should be able to connect a phone on a 2011MY car."

It seems I may be mistaken. I thought cars not equipped with bluetooth didn't have the phone button, instead putting a blank there. It seems this isn't correct. Have you registered with "MY VOLVO", it will tell you what options should be fitted on your car!

I'm virtually certain that a 2011 R Design would have bluetooth for the phone as standard. It's a standard fitting on my SE and not listed as an option. As said the fact that there's a phone button also points to it being available.

What doesn't appear to work is that music and GPS voice commands from the same phone don't want to play through the car's audio system.

I've just checked a 2011 pricelist as I had one handy having not long picked up my 2011 D5.
Bad news, the R-Design or ES didn't come with Bluetooth as standard; it was a £275 option.
Whether the "Phone" button is there regardless I am not too sure, I know the V50 had a blank button if no HF was fitted. Is the mic grille there by the visor?

And with regards to bluetooth music streaming this was only available with the later models with the new dashboard; I know the current Sensus Connect system allows streaming.
