Complete Loss of Boost
Grrrr......
So the past couple of days we have complete loss of boost. It intermittently returns, but in the main is having none of it. We have service light. I've read the codes. BCM-0011 - apparently sticking / stuck EGR valve ECM-130A - MAF related ECM-130C - MAF related Now, I had issues in the past with the MAF and changed it.... everything was peachy. I'm going to be stripping out the EGR after lunch to give it a clean in the hopes that that will alleviate some of the issue. However, the MAF side of things is concerning me as it's the second time now that it's played up. Now I'm very aware that these machines of ours chuck up codes that sometimes mask another issue, I remember A Lex having something similar that was down to the intercooler but cannot for the life of me find his thread. Any more pointers I should be looking for / checking? Right, beans on toast time and then having at it!! |

Going to check turbo pipes too...
The annoying thing is... there's obvious oily deposits near the EGR air mixer. Right.... out to it |

Well that was all a bit of a waste of time... next up, new MAF sensor.

Have you got access to VIDA? I would run some tests to establish whether boost is being commanded, but not delivered, or whether boost is in fact not being commanded at all. It could actually be boosting - you might have a fuel pressure issue? I would have expected to see some more specific codes though.

I do have VIDA, that's where the codes came from...
However, I haven't got around to installing a printer in VMWare, so those were the main codes written down by hand, lol. They are als o the only codes related to the issue. The live readings of the MAF are well out of range to where they should be, although they do what it is supposed to. So although the numbers are wrong... the figures drop when the EGR is activated. I'll see for sure tomorrow when the new MAF gets fitted I'll have a fart on with the fuel pressure side of stuff later when I've finished work. Could well be a simple thing like a blocked fuel filter... (it is due a change!) however that wouldn't explain the MAF readings. The DTC indicates that there is an air leak after the MAF, but I can't find one... |
