Dedicated towing electrics fitting question
Hi guys and gals, im brand new to this forum so be nice 😉
Ive recently become the new owner of a 2014 XC90 Executive which im thoroughly enjoying, its an absolute dream to drive due to the previos owner sparing no expence in looking after it. Ive just purchased and fitted a towbar and dedicated electrics from PF Jones and fitted it myself. However, the instructions on where to plug the loom into the rear fuse panel have left me at a loss. The socket at the top right of the panel already has a plug connected in it so im not sure what to do... Do i need a splitter cable or can i unplug the currently connected plug and replace it with the dedicated pluc for the towing electrics? Apologies if this is an old subject but im still finding my way round here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Mark |

The Exec has the "T" connector already fitted so, if you use the genuine Volvo electrics, it just plugs into that existing, extended, connection.
That is what I did when I fitted the towbar myself to my 2011 Exec. BUT I used genuine Volvo electrics so it was easy (and less expensive than I had expected) You will probably need to unplug what is there and plug in the electrics you got from PF Jones. This will mean you will probably have to strip out some of the trim panels in the boot to access the connections - although others have achieved this without - but you need slim flexible hands... (which I don't have...) Good Luck (why didn't you get the genuine Volvo electrics??) Cheers Dave |

I'll unplug it and see if anything stops working. I also thought a splitter cable might be required and that's a conversation I might have with my local dealer over in Southampton. I'm not sure one is even available. Thanks again for your quick reply. Mark |
