Default Volvo S90 powered boot lid not opening without some help

Hi,

We picked up used S90 last week, Inscription D4. Very happy with it, but we noticed that the boot lid is not opening fully when we press the key, or if we kick the sensor under the rear bumper. Originally we thought it was functioning as intended, but then we read the manual after wondering why the boot opened if we put a foot under the bumper (OK, so it has a convenience sensor). As we understand, it should open fully under its own steam.

I made a quick video of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vB9U_O8S3s0 - sound isnt good quality, but I guess the visual is enough.

It doesn't take much effort to get it to open to the point that the powered action kicks in, and the close function works fine.

Just wondering if I am missing something obvious that could rectify before taking back to the dealer?

Alex.

There is a function to limit the opening height of the tailgate on my V90, presumably the S90 boot lid has the same feature? see page 252 of the manual.

I would try opening your boot lid fully, push it up further by hand to ensure it is at maximum height. Press the close button (not the close and lock button) for at least 3 seconds and you will hear two bleeps, this has cancelled any previous limit setting. Now press either of the close buttons and your boot will close, try opening it again by either the key or foot waggling method and it should now open to maximum.

If you original problem persists, it looks like a dealer visit I'm afraid!

Thanks for the tip. Tried this one just now, but if I hold the close button for 3s (or longer) no indicative beeps and same result. No trouble, I will give a message to the dealer, hopefully its a simple fix.

Hello,
I wonder what was the end of your story?

I have the same issue with my 2018 S90 T8. Went to dealer several times, they replaced some parts, but after some time it is still the same...
Thanks!

Assuming you got a warranty, its either the springs have lost their springiness or the motor needs replaced.
