Smile Zero boost - Wastegate Actuator Arm Issue

Hi all,
I have been having boost issues with my 940 LPT. I’m 99% sure I have a Mitsubishi TD04 turbo. I fitted a boost gauge and it has registered zero boost. I fitted a MBC and set it to the lowest boost setting and still no boost. After googling and fiddling around under the bonnet I have realised the wastegate actuator arm is not connected at the turbo side. I believe this would stop boost being generated? I can feel the wastegate under the turbo and can move it but the pin is not connected to the actuator arm, I tried to put it back in with no success, it feels too big for the hole (cannot really see as it’s all under the turbo) can these be refitted? Or do I need a new pin / or new arm? I know I can upgrade the wastegate but would like to do an easy fix to begin with if possible

You will just have to wangle it back on , try from underneath , and you will need a new securing clip/pin to hold it on .

Got it back on - is it just like an R clip I need to secure it? Could I just cable tie it or something for a redneck repair?

A split pin would be best.

Given the temperature ranges a turbo sees, a cable tie would last all of 5 seconds.

An R clip is ideal.

I would get the proper clip from volvo which can deal with the heat if you don't want it falling off again, no a cable tie is no good it glows red hot down there !

A well fitted starlock washer has done the trick for me, 7000 miles so far with it on
