Don't know what injection system it has but the car was first registered 1/1/95 so built in 94? Don't know what the gearbox designation is but it has no dipstick tube. Hope some of this info helps.
If it was registered 1/1/95 then it was definitely built in 1994!

I take it that it's manual then if it has no dipstick tube? On this pdf, Pg5 (by document viewer page number) shows how to decipher your VIN code to find out what sort of transmission, brakes etc you should have.

Perhaps you can post a pic of the gear selector if it is auto and/or an underbonnet pic - that would help identify the box if it is auto.

Wouldn't the number of pedals tell you what style of box it has? IIRC the 3-litre cars only ever had an automatic box while the 2.5-litre ones had the option of the M90 manual one.

Unfortunately I can't access that link it keeps coming up with doing something about default settings and I'm not clever enough to do computer stuff without the possibility of messing things up entirely! However the car is an automatic.Gear positions are shown as P,R.N,D,3,L and it has the three buttons to the left[rhd car] marked as[from front to rear]W,S,E. I can post the Vin/chassis number on here if that's a safe idea or pm it to you?

By all means post the VIN number but leave the last 6 digits off - they are the unique chassis number that relates to your car only.

Don't worry LS I have more than my share of "senior moments" Anyway for info the Vin is YV1964956S1xxxxxx. For an update took car for M.o.T. today[it wasn't booked in until tomorrow but that's another story]from start up the arrow was flashing as were the E and W buttons, during test the tester asked "What's the flashing arrow for?" to which I simply replied "Gearbox" and he just said "Oh" when he'd finished test he parked it on the car park and when I'd squared up I got in it and the flashing had stopped!! So at present I'm still no wiser as to the issue.
Test was passed by the way sold the old battle cruiser lives on
